Thief Ants
Size: One of the smallest ants found infesting
buildings, measuring less than 1/16-inch in
length. This ant will nest in soil, in wood, in voids, and in just about any suitable location. Finding the nests is extremely difficult.
Thief Ants derive their name from their habit of locating their
colonies
close to those of other ants to steal that ant's food and even capture and eat
the
other ant's eggs and larvae. Colonies are usually small and are difficult to
find. In
homes, trails are often seen in bathrooms and kitchens and in and around
windows where the ants can find moisture and food.
If
you are not sure where they are in the wall, or if you think that they may just
be coming in from the outside, then try a non repellent insecticide and/or a bait
on the interior. Baits such as
Advance Carpenter Ant Bait,
, Advance Ant Bait for Small Ants,
Gourmet Liquid Ant Bait Stations or
Maxforce Gel can be applied to
areas where ants are foraging. Ant Cafe's can
also be used to hold and protect your bait on the inside.
Recommended Ant Kit:
Small
Household Ants- Basic Kit If you know with some certainty where the colony is living inside, then you can treat it directly (or as close as possible) with a non-repellent insecticide, a dust or a foam. Dusts include Delta Dust, Drione, or Borid Turbo.
Use the Crusader or
B&G Bulb Duster to apply your dusts or baits
into Note: Use only one bulb duster for each formulation. You don't want to contaminate your bait with an insecticide.
